It’s no secret that I’m strongly attracted to asymmetry. I have shown you many examples of clothes featuring asymmetric elements on my site.
Therefore, you will understand that this asymmetric blue dress is right up my alley.
The occasion for the outing of this dress was an invitation by the wonderful ladies of Stones That Rock to attend a lecture by the Singapore Committee for UN Women. They were talking about their current STEM campaign which stands for science, technology, engineering & mathematics. The campaign encourages girls to pursue their studies and career in that area.
That is a campaign I wholeheartedly support. I’m proof that you can have a fabulous career working with technology where you can use a lot of your creativity as well.
It’s so important that more girls get involved in these fields. Take for example all the new internet startups. Usually these startups require a commercial creative brain as well as someone who can programme really well. Traditionally that job goes to a man. I think that more women in tech could make a huge difference to the number of successful startups we would see and the usability of the Internet.
Let’s get back to the dress.
It has a very interesting collar that has iron thread inside it to keep its shape. Although I’m wearing it as a summer dress here, the material is quite thick and would be great as a fall dress. Just wear with a thin cotton or woollen top underneath or layer the dress with a jacket or cardigan.
As this dress is quite long, it would be perfect with knee-high boots or booties.
